Pilot Talk is the third studio album by rapper Curren$y. It was to be the first released under the newly re-launched Roc-A-Fella Records by Damon Dash and distributed through Def Jam Recordings.[8] It was later revealed that the album would be released under Damon Dash's DD172 record label division, BluRoc Records.[9][10] The album was originally scheduled to be released on March 23, 2010.[9] However, when the Def Jam deal was acquired, the album was given a June 15, 2010 release.[8] The album was then pushed back and released on July 13.[11] The entire album is solely produced by Ski Beatz except 'Prioritize', which is produced by Nesby Phips, and 'Roasted', which is produced by Monsta Beatz.[12] Ski Beatz also remixed the song 'Breakfast' for the album which was originally produced by Mos Def.[13] Several music videos were shot for the album promotion and can be found on CreativeControl.tv[14]

The album debuted at number 39 on the Billboard 200.[15] It sold just over 10,764 copies its first week.[16] The album is now at 33,000 in total sales.[17]

The second single, 'Roasted', was released for digital download on June 21, 2010 and features Trademark and Young Roddy of Curren$y's Jets International.[20][21] A music video for the single was released on July 8, 2010. Call it anything but Pilot Talk II, and Currensy’s second effort of 2010 is just straight-up solid, but put this sequel up against the original Pilot Talk -- released just five months previously -- and the nitpicking begins. Some tracks -- the few that barely cross the two-minute mark -- feel like loose ideas or interludes; plus, the overall feel of the album is so blunted, it’s almost a mood piece, designed to provide cerebral hip-hop stoners their perfect soundtrack. That’s not enough to sway the haters, but fans wouldn’t mind if the underground and alternative rap star got ever more fragmented and narrow, and with the smart and innovative Ski Beatz handling the bulk of the production once again, they certainly won’t mind Pilot Talk II. Spacy dreams of flight like the opening “Airborne Aquarium” alternate with more traditional numbers like the street single “Michael Knight,” which is packed with meaningful verses and a memorable chorus. “Fashionably Late” comes with a brilliant, yet subtle, Souls of Mischief reference, and as far as features, the Wu-Tang’s Raekwon is strong on the “Michael Knight” remix while Young Roddy threatens to steal the show during “Flight Briefing.” Highly desirable for Currensy fans who like his material at its most loose and free, just don’t start here.
